Developed Scrip & Actor Preparation

I think we where all a little nervous about meeting the actor, especially me as this was the first time I had ever directed an older actor before, I just didn’t know what to expect or how to approach it. We decided to meet up with our seminar teacher Lee so he could give us some tips about how we could prepare.

To me this was really useful as we came out of the meeting with a better understanding of what to expect. We create a brief meeting schedule about what we needed to discuss:
·      Introduction and our different roles
·      The idea and where it came from
·      Talk about the key motifs, the shoe and coat
·      Read through the scrip
·      See if Jonathan had any questions
·      Discuss when he is free to shoot
·      Finally talk about location and prop list see if he had any props to help us

We also had some problems with location that we discussed with lee as the original idea was to film in Halifax. We felt that this wasn’t really practical and the room wasn’t ideal. Lee told us about a room that we could use in the middle of Sheffield, the room had nothing in but it was a blank canvas for design the room the way we wanted to.  This sounded ideal and was in Sheffield, we then arranged a day where we could view the room the following Monday.

After the meeting with lee we then met up to alter the scrip and make a couple of changes to it.
